Faculty of Arts

  • With more than 380 full-time professors, Arts is the largest Faculty on campus, offering 37 majors in everything from Economics, to Political Science, to Environmental Studies, to Industrial Design.
  • Our Work Experience Program gives Arts students the opportunity to further develop and integrate the skills gained in the classroom with a full-time, paid work experience position over a 4 –16 month term.

This Faculty offers:

Faculty of Nursing

  • Our professors have received multiple teaching and research awards at the local, provincial, and national levels.
  • The Edmonton Clinic Health Academy is a new state-of-the-art building providing high-tech, interactive student spaces and collaboration between various health science programs.
  • Students gain hands-on experience using cutting-edge technology in the lab and by participating in clinical placements in a variety of hospital and community settings.
  • The Global Nursing Office facilitates international initiatives and linkages, including current partnerships in Brazil, China, Ghana, Thailand, and the United States.

Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry

    Note: This Faculty offers limited enrolment for international students.

    The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry is a large faculty with 20 departments and 18 research groups. The Department of Dentistry teaches the knowledge and skills necessary to assume positions in private dental practice and community health care. Admission to the DDS and Dental Hygiene programs is limited, and applications are selected on a competitive basis.

    85% of the places in the program are reserved for Alberta residents, five percent for international students and ten percent for non-Albertan Canadians.

    The Faculty of Medicine is one of the top three medical schools for research in North America. There is an outstanding environment covering the spectrum of health research, with scientists who are highly sought after by research centres in North America and Europe. The teaching hospital at the University of Alberta is the largest in Western Canada, offering state-of-the-art facilities for the clinical education of medical students and residents. Entrance is restricted to students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada (landed immigrants).

Faculty of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences

  • The Faculty has a diverse professoriate. Academics come from Egypt, India, Turkey, United States, Iran, China, Australia and Mexico.
  • Each year, our undergraduate program’s experiential activities provide students with work experience in different pharmacy settings.
  • Pharmacy students can take part in clinical and scientific research.

  • This is the second consecutive year that a University of Alberta Pharmacy student earned the highest score, in the nation, for the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC).

Faculty of Physical Education & Recreation

  • This Faculty offers:

    a professional practicum, where you’ll have an opportunity to practice what you’ve learned in a local, national, or international setting.

Campus Saint-Jean (French language Faculty)
